Self Love is the Best Love

Do you ever find yourself looking for a way to stop and do a reset in the middle of your busy life? I do. I feel like I couldn't function properly without having a bit of time for myself. I get cranky and moody when I don't get to do what I want. This made me realize that I also need to give myself some love. I also need to give myself a bit of time to slow down.

This year, I promised to give myself the love I deserve. Not that I don't get it from my family. I do! I know my family loves me no matter how cranky I can be. But I feel like I get cranky because I lack love from the one I need the most love from... myself. So here are a few things I plan to do to show me some more love this year:
  1. Have a bit of me time. When everything seems like a chaos, a 10-minute break, all to yourself can make a huge difference.
  2. Take more naps. Don't push it if you can't do it.
  3. Hydrate. Drink up. Your body needs it.
  4. Draw some more. I don't know about you but having some sort of outlet relaxes me. When I get so stressed out with work, I take a few minutes to sketch something up on my notebook and I feel like I'm ready to take on more work right after.
  5. Work out. I started taking boxing lessons back in December but I had to stop because I went to the US for two weeks and now that I'm back and I feel like I've recovered from the jetlag and the fatigue, I think I'm ready to go back to the gym and work out again. The goal is to be more kind to my body... not weight loss.
  6. Unplug from social media. I plan to lessen my time spent on the internet and instead, spend more time on other things that are more important that Instagram and Facebook.
  7. Learn new healthy dishes. Nothing feels better than acing a new recipe and having people like it.
  8. Read books. I feel like I need to catch up on reading this year because I haven't been reading quite a lot in the past years. I'm looking for feel-good, motivational and inspirational books so if you know anything, please let me know in the comments!
  9. Manage my time and stick to my Bullet Journal. I feel like working at home actually took some of my time away from my kids because I wasn't giving time management much attention but when I tried to set goals and schedules for different days, it felt like I am with my kids more when they need me.
  10. Get up earlier and make the bed rightaway. It gives me an earlier headstart and it makes me more productive.
So there you go. This worked for me for the past few months so I'm planning to continue them this year. What do you do to give yourself a bit more love? 💛

  1. I started my year with a gift of travel. It's been two years since I had that super me time. And I am happy I did so. For me, it is how to start the year right. And that counts for every day too! :D

Oh, I hope I can have freedom from social networks, uggh, just too hard to resist. X(

    1. I'd love to travel on my own, too! I think it's really amazing to have a few days all to yourself... it's liberating, and I feel like it gives us time to recharge and feel more empowered to face the 'real world.' :)

And yes, I still haven't figured out how I'd take a timeout from my socials. It seems pretty simple to just shut my phone off but it's too tempting.

  2. This is so similar to a post I wrote recently about self care. It is so important especially in these hectic times when we can forget about us.

  3. I vow to spend more time with family. Also I am working out more and eating better.

  4. This is a good list! Its sort of inspiring, self is very important I totally agree. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I love a bit of time for me. Alone time is really valuable. I make time for it several times a day. Get up early. Close the door. Disconnect from my devices. Connecting with self in silence does great wonders.
